Why the Nationals are wearing gold-trimmed jerseys – The Washington Post

The Washington Nationals will wear gold-accented jerseys and caps to celebrate their World Series title when they open the MLB season on Thursday against the New York Yankees, a trend that began when the Boston Red Sox wore gold-accented jerseys on Opening Day in 2005. A Nationals spokeswoman said the team may continue to wear the jerseys for select home games throughout the season.
